Biography
I've been a production professional for more than 20 years, starting as an ad agency producer for commercials shot on film. I moved from commercial production to animation series and worked for four years for Rankin Bass Productions as the soundtrack director/producer on the iconic animated series "ThunderCats" as well as "SilverHawks" and "The Comic Strip". In addition to producing I provided original music and sound effects for the various series.
In 1989 I opened my company, OnTrack Productions, with a recording studio, and as a music production company created original music for daytime series "Guiding Light", "Another World", ABC Sports, and numerous commercials and corporate programs. As a composer and producer I specialized in children's music and have a gold record for "Lullaby Cradle" a collection of traditional lullabies, and created original audio products for Highlights for Children Magazine and Readers Digest Children's Publishing. I also composed and produced the popular environmental/relaxation music series "Interludes" for Great American Audio.
Eventually I branched out into directing and producing video and enjoyed a long run making commercials and high end corporate videos for companies like GE, Accenture, Pratt & Whitney, Readers Digest and many others. I added a video editing suite to my studio and provided video, audio and encoding services for my advertising and corporate clients.
In 2006 one of my advertising clients partnered with Michael Rosenblum, one of the early producers of reality television and I was hired to produce "5 Takes", a series for Travel Channel and several other pilots. This was a groundbreaking series in that from start of shooting to air was only two weeks. I figured out how to make this work and supervised the production for 4 seasons including series shot in Europe, the Pacific Rim and Latin America. I also produced a series of one hour shows featuring Drew Carey from the 2006 World Cup in Germany that had a one week turn from shooting to broadcast. These series involved complicated logistics, close communications with the network, fast turnaround and of course, quality control. In addition to planning the productions and Line Producing, I also personally supervised all of the on-online and mixing for these series.
In 2009 I directed and edited several episodes of the series "What's Your Trip" featuring Andrew Zimmern and Anthony Bourdain for the Travel Channel. I was also a production and editing instructor for The Travel Channel Academy, a joint venture of Rosenblum Associates and the Travel Channel.
Since then I've production managed, post-supervised, line produced and been the EIC for series on Lifetime, HGTV, DIY, A&E, SPEED, STYLE and TLC for Rosenblum Associates, Boy Wonder Productions, Leopard Films, Lion Television and Endemol USA.
I still keep a hand in audio and have a fully equipped professional home studio including Pro Tools 10 and Logic Pro and recently mixed the HGTV series "Rescue My Renovation", and provided original music for "Pumped" on Speed Channel.
Beyond technology and logistics, I believe the most important aspect of a successful production is building a great team. As a team leader I try to motivate and inspire every person on a production to always do their best work while having a great experience. For me, this is the ultimate recipe for success.
